DESIGN BRIEF:
Design a newly thought kitchenwear (knife, cutting board etc.) that fits well in to a certain user group.
Think about the ergonomics. Test, prototype and discuss about the design. It’s important that the product feels good and is easy to use.
Siivu is a newly thought cheese slicer designed to get a good preassure when slicing.
As my target group I chose people with troubles using force when cutting. This is a trouble especially when cutting harder cheeses. In Siivu I thought about the shape as a help to get more easily preassure to slicing and to get the blade more far away from the hands.
Siivu suits well to all age groups and users, but is ideal for families with small children and for elderly people. The placement of the hand and thumb is intuitive because of the user-centered design.
